I get 'cross

My journal of cyclocross
Follow Me

I haven't been writing about riding, because I've had a month away. I couldn't face proper racing or even really be motivated to do a proper race. I kinda didn't really care about it either. I started doing running and I even ran home from work the other day.
So now, I've had a rest, I'm due for my annual trip to the snow for a bit of ski-boarding this weekend. When I get back I shall return to the wonders of cycling.

I have four pave / grave based rides planned. I have some ViCiOUS Velo kit on the way to me, a new (but old) boutiful training bike in the wings, where once the bottom of Dean Downing has sat.

My white Condor shall be cleaned up all nice and the race wheels slipped in.
I'm going to get some rollers, make my Look carbon / cast lug frame into a town fixie.
KERBLOOM. With mud still in my hair, cheeks full of Mule Bar Cherry Bomb and Frites. The season of cycling shall begin.

I'm quite looking forward to it.
Riding fast. Sweat dripping off my nose. Face hot. Restless legs tired when I want to sleep. Watery eyes on the descents. Legs hurting before lungs.

I go in search of pounding dub-step music and podcasts to feed into my ear holes for when I'm on the rollers or turbo. Then the turbo gets too hard and the music and everything irritates me and I pull the ear phones out and ride with only the sound of my blood thumping in my ear. Ever had that?....

By the way - the bee gees have started riding bikes.

Another train/tube kindle user. And I blatantly took a picture of her, because she's a kindle user and therefore technically beneath me. So i can be that rude.

Even though she looks to be a well rounded person. It seemed my journey would be dull then blammo. She brought out the kindle, she even had a pink leather type case for it. So she's committed to it as well...

There are three things that amuse me about today's train journey to a my Roller race.

One - I'm taking the train
Two - a man actually purchased a Kindle and is using it.
Three - he dares to whip it out in public, defying the social norm.
He's basically silently saying F-OFF Apple.

i'm writing a catalogue its due next week and i've flipping run out of words and I've got flipping 32 pages to go.

HELP ME.....

Ben - use more pictures

Anyways - dropping soon........

I'm riding Paris-Roubaix this year.
I rode it 2-3 years ago. It is nothing like anything I've ridden before or since. Literally by the final sector I could barely hold my bars. True I was riding with boys and Ian Cleverly who were trying to smash each other. I got to the velodrome and thought I was going to cry because every 1km was 1 to many.
I only wanted to eat savoury food.
I remember I drank a red liquid a feed station and shook it up on the next cobble section and puked up red sick.

The day after I couldn't change gear in my car for the pain in my wrists.
Anyways I'm going again. Its epic. I have to go.

So I'm going to smash about on some cobbles in preparation. I'm also going to ride the Ronde van Oost Lancashire invented by CrossJunkie. It will be the final preparation before the Hell of the North.

I will be training tuesday evening after work, South London hilly route. Probably make 3 or 4 runs up Low cross wood ( the hill climb ascent), bring your road bike, crampons and a tincture of finest ale for afters.
See you there.
P.S. Do not accept fraudulent E-mails written in my name. I am neither finished, worried about the coming season, washed out, crippled, training for a triathlon, contacting sportivos online, accepting praise from no-lucks, no-hopers or no-marks, courting cantilevers or re-greasing my Red b/bracket.
I'm off to watch Rastamouse on CBBs

P.P.S - JC is planning a covert, renegade, undercover hill climb challenge up Low Cross Wood. Early March. That is all I could translate from his wire to Ben. Will update when I know more.
